The New Zealand Music Competition is a national music competition, that fosters open collaboration and positive support for music teachers, students, and parents. We are excited to announce that the 2nd New Zealand Music Competition will take place in Christchurch, between April 20th and April 22nd, 2023. This edition will have a focus on New Zealand and Chinese Music.
We are delighted to have Michael Endres as the competition chair in Christchurch this year! Looking forward to seeing you there!
Eligibility: Any pianists under age of 17
Where: Rangi Ruru Girls School, Christchurch
When: April 20th to April 22nd
requirements
Each pianist is required to perform at least one New Zealand OR one Chinese work.
Other works may be performed as long as the programme is within the maximum time allowance.
Once submitted, the repertoire cannot be changed.
Age Groups
Age on January 1st, 2023
Group A: Age 7 - 8, max. 5 minutes
Group B: Age 9 - 11, max. 8 minutes
Group C: Age 12 - 14, max. 12 minutes
Group D: Age 15 - 17, max. 15 minutes

The order of performers will be in alphabetical order by surname
The decision of the adjudicators is final
The adjudicators reserve all rights for the number of prizes given.
The organisers reserve the right to make any changes to the event if necessary
Rights to any competition performance, whether broadcast, televised or recorded, belong to the competition, and no fee is payable for any transmissions, recordings or broadcasts of them
The organisers will not accept any responsibility for any accident, loss or injury, which may occur to any competitor or to his/her property whether arising out of negligence or otherwise at any time in relation to the competition.
In the event of fewer than 5 entries being received for the age group, the organisers reserve the right to cancel the competition for that group and change the format to non-competitive performance

If you are signing up for a competition, workshop, or private lesson, an application form will be sent to your email. You MUST complete and submit the application form in order to participate.
For multiple applications, please complete and submit the same application form multiple times, one for each applicant.
